  • What results can I expect from my Happy Birthday Email Campaign?

    We see some fantastic performance stats from our Merchant stores with some seeing up to 10% conversion rates from birthday emails sent out. On average we see the following stats:

    • **Data capture rate after order placed 36%
    • Email open rate 65%
    • Click through rate 10%
    • Conversion rate 5%*

    The above stats are based on merchants using automatic discounts only.

  • Can I customise my email template?

    You can define all of the copy/messaging within the birthday email as well as the button colour and link.

    If you have a custom email template that you would like to use, we will be happy to upload this for you. We will need the HTML file along with the assets. There is some limitation as to what we can upload due to the dynamic element of the emails, but, we will help you to achieve the results you are looking for.

  • Can I see how the Birthday Sign-up Form will look to my Customers?

    We display a preview of how the Birthday Sign-up Form will display to your Customers on the Order Status Page. If you would like to see it in action, we suggest that you view an Order Status Page in your Shopify Admin area. The following steps will walk you through how to do this:

    • Ensure the Birthday Sign-up Form is enabled within the app settings
    • Go to a recent order within your Shopify Admin > Orders area
    • Click on the more options > dropdown menu at the top of the page
    • Click on the "view order status page" option
    • You will then be taken to the order status page for that order.
    • You should then see the Birthday Sign-up Form just under the order details.

      Please note, the Birthday Sign-up Form will only appear if the customer has not already submitted their date of birth.

    If you wanted to test the process yourself, then we'd recommend placing a test order in your store and you will then see the Birthday Sign-up Form on the order status page.

  • Can I preview or send a test Birthday email via the app?

    Yes. You are able to send a test Birthday email within the app. It will default to your Store's Admin email address, however you can choose to change the email address before sending.

    As you will see, you also have the option to preview your birthday email template within the app, which will show the birthday email preview in a modal window.

  • Can I control when the birthday email is sent?

    Yes. You can determine the time of day and how many days before the Customer's birthday that the birthday email is sent. This allows you to send out birthday emails days if not weeks before the customer's actual birthday if you wish to tempt them into an early birthday gift for themselves!

  • What happens when I reach the limit of my current plan?

    When you are within 20% of your plan's customer birthday storage limit, we will notify you by email that you need to upgrade to the next

    There is a short grace period should you exceed the customer birthday storage limit for your existing plan, so we would recommend that you try and upgrade as soon as you can after receiving our upgrade emails.

    Please add support@happybirthday.unionworks.co.uk to your contacts so that this notification does not get lost.

  • Will customers still be able to sign-up to my Birthday Club if I have exceeded my plan?

    When you hit the limit of your existing plan, the app will stop sending out birthday emails to your customers after a short grace period. It is therefore important that you keep up to date and select the right plan for the amount of customer birthdays that you have captured.

    We will continue to store new customers birthday sign-ups, but you will need to upgrade your plan in order to ensure that birthday emails continue to be sent out.

  • What if I don’t want to ask my customers for their age?

    Not to worry, we understand! We've built our Birthday Sign-up Forms so that you can request only the day and month of birth if you feel that your customers would prefer not to specify their year of birth. This can be controlled via the app settings.

  • Can I export my customers birthday data?

    You can export all of your stored Happy Birthday App customer data via the data tab within the app. It is exported as a standard CSV file, which can then be uploaded into your email service provider or CRM.

  • How can I upload existing customer birthdates into the app?

    You can import customer data into the app using a CSV file. The required fields are:

    1. Email address
    2. Date of birth – you need to make sure the date of birth format in your CSV follows the same format that you have specified within our app. e.g. DD/MM/YYYY - if the formats are different, the import will not work.
    3. Customer First Name (Optional)
    4. Customer Last Name (Optional)
  • Can I ask previous customers to sign-up to my Birthday Club?

    Yes. You can point previous customers and new visitors to your store to the Birthday Sign-up Page.

    The link to your birthday capture form is in the following format:

    https://{{ yourdomain.com }}/apps/birthday

    Why not create an email campaign to encourage previous customers to revisit your site to sign-up to your Birthday Club.  New visitors to your site can also be directed to the Birthday Sign-up Page to leave their details without needing to place an order.

  • Can I backdate the Customer Tag/Customer note to previous entries?

    If you have enabled the feature to auto tag customers with their DOB and would now like to backdate the tagging to all previous birthday sign-ups, then please contact us to arrange a backdating task.

    Please note, we can only tag customers that have provided their date of birth and have an existing Customer record in your Shopify store.
